8 Qualities for Marriage

He/she must accept self. (Free from shame motivation.) You can't love anyone else if you don't love yourself. Psalm 139: 14-16.
  • Must be under authority. (Parents, Church, employment.) Romans 13:1.
  • Must have a clear conscience. There is no one that I have wronged and never tried to make it right. Acts 24:16.
  • Must know how to yield rights to God and be relatively free of anger and worry. I Corinthians 6:19
  • Must have moral freedom. Spirit stronger than flesh. Self control. John 8:34-36.
  • Must know God's purpose for life. If a man doesn't know where he is going it is impossible to follow him. Galatians 1:15-17.
  • Must have financial freedom. Romans 13:8.

  • Godly Worldly
    A. Eye to virtue (Character).
    Ruth 2:5. Boaz desired to learn about her family.
    Eye to body.
    B. Eye to Authority. (Parents).
    Ruth 2:8-9. He desired to provide for and protect her.
    Eye to eye.
    C. Communion of spirit. (Praise).
    Ruth 2:11. His praise of her godly character.
    Voice to voice. (Flattery).
    D. Quiet generosity. (Giving).
    Ruth 2:15-16. He gave to her.
    Hand to hand. (Getting).
    E. Recognition of marital responsibilities.
    Ruth 3:10-13. He recognized the responsibility of a redeemer.
    Hand to shoulder.
    F. Approval of authority first.
    Ruth 3:12-13. He submitted to the relative and the elders.
    Hand to waist.
    G. Marriage covenant.
    Ruth 4:13-17. David and Jesus came from this lineage.
