It was a cold December morning with snow on the ground when your mother first awoke Knowing it was time that you were soon on your way because her water had just broke
With me it took a little more convincing but with a prod from your mother I was soon awake Excitement and eagerness gripped me; soon a son to play football, tennis and even fishing at the lake
We entered the hospital with doctors and nurses all around as the pains soon began Not only from your mother but from my hand that your mother squeezed when she said "I think I can"
The birth was long and you were stubborn not willing to enter this world without a fight But we were all growing tired and fatigued as we waited for you to catch your first glimpse of this world’s light
You see unbeknown to us there was a battle raging on in the heavens for your very life A battle that has been going on since the beginning of the universe that has caused much strife
There were forces at work in the spirit realm that wanted to keep you from entering this world as a baby The enemy knew if he could take your life that the plan God had for you would be foiled…just maybe
Fear and doubt entered each and every one of our minds as the battle raged on Dark forces began to rejoice at the terror they instilled and knew your life would soon be gone
But things began to change when we realized there was nothing that we could do So we cried out to the Lord almighty the creator of the universe to help pull you through
We never knew how much your life was threatened that day until your head appeared And we witnessed the umbilical cord wrapped tightly around your neck like a noose it was then that we feared
But Gods mighty hand was upon you that day knowing that your time had not yet come That you were made with a plan and a purpose that came straight from the King of the Kingdom
All turned out well that day and we all soon forgot About what happened in the heavenlies and the battle that was fought
Soon you were out of diapers, crawling and walking around Getting into things that you shouldn’t which was just about anything that you found
And on such as an occasion the enemy, still lurking reared its ugly head and turned As you bit into an electrical cord the current raced through your tiny body filling the air with a stench of flesh just burned
My heart sank into the pit of despair of what I discovered I the father the protector failed you in that hour that the enemy had just uncovered
Where was I, What could I have done differently, was my cry I wanted so much to take your place “Oh Lord Please Don’t let him die”
Again the Lord heard me and He was ever so gracious And never let me forget the gift that he gave was ever so precious
I have gotten over that day but the memory is etched in my brain And I am ever so thankful to my Lord for the gift and I praise Him without refrain
So I have come before all of you to tell you this story about my Wonderful son For Who I am well pleased with, whose life is the Lords, and the Almighty is not yet done
I came to give honor and rejoice and to give a fathers blessing Because I myself have not received that from my father something I have been missing
So I stand before you today to start a tradition To sow good things into my son and soon they will come to fruition
May the Lord bless you and keep you Brandon from the enemy and out of harms way May he put a hedge of protection around you and keep you in His hand I pray
Follow the Lords ways and all will be well with your life And yes I am even praying that the Lord brings you a Godly wife
May she be help meet loving, gentle and kind For these are gifts from the Lord and are a rare find
May your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren learn the ways of the Lord so all may be well And we will all eventually be with our Lord in heavens gates forever there we will dwell
Live long and prosper I once heard said Continue to eat the Word daily until you are well fed
My son I love you very much and I know the Lord has great plans for you Listen to the Almighty’s voice be obedient and just do what He has called you to do |
