A concise statement of FFI's core beliefs and doctrines.
The following statement of faith is being provided, as we are often asked about the core beliefs of Family Foundations (FFI). FFI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Christian Ministry, based out of Littleton, Colorado, U.S.A. This statement of faith is part of FFI's Bylaws.
FFI seminars have been welcomed and effective in a variety of denominations and affiliations of churches who do not hold the same doctrinal beliefs. The teaching in seminars does not include the more controversial doctrinal issues in FFI's statement of faith. We are respectful of what other people believe and one of the main objectives of the ministry and seminar small groups is to love and accept people as they are. Seminars are conducted in churches under the authority of the local Pastor. Our heart is to bring healing to the body of Christ and not division.
Family Foundations International Statement of Faith
Because it is recognized that it is important to openly state what we stand for, in order that we might stand together, the following essentials are stated,(Amos 3:3): All biblical truth exists to exalt Jesus Christ.
THE SCRIPTURES - The Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved upon by the Holy Spirit and we accept it as the only authoritative, infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine (2 Tim. 3:16; I Thes. 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21).
THE GODHEAD - There is one God, eternally existent in three persons- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, all being co-equal (Phil. 2:6). God the Father is the Source of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter (John 14:28; John 1:14). God the Son is the Word flesh-covered, the One Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the beginning (John 1:1; John 1:18; John 1:14). God the Holy Spirit proceeds forth from the Father and is eternal (John 15:26). In Jesus all the fullness of the deity lives in bodily form (Col. 2:9).
THE DEITY OF JESUS CHRIST - Jesus Christ is God. We believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious death, in His bodily resurrection, in His exchange of spiritual life for ours through His shed blood, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
MAN, HIS FALL AND REDEMPTION - Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world. All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil and gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God (Rom. 5:14; Rom. 3:10; Rom. 3:23; I John 3:8). Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God (Eph. 2:8).
ETERNAL LIFE AND THE NEW BIRTH - Man's first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that works repentance. The New Birth is necessary to all men and, when fulfilled, produces eternal life (2 Cor. 7:10; 1 John 5:12; John 3:3-5).
BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT- The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers and is received either concurrently with or subsequent to the New Birth. Evidence of this experience is the manifestation of one or more gifts of the Holy Spirit, most frequently including speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance. (Matt. 3:11; John 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38,39; Acts 10:44-48; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:4). We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit in the body as enumerated in I Corinthians 12-14 and as manifested in the early church.
FAMILY - Family is the basic institution on the earth through which God intends to establish, in each child growing up His message of identity and destiny. God intended for each child growing up to have a Father, a Family, and a Future. A family is a spiritual entity, not just a collection of people living under the same roof. A family is intended by God to be a unit, consisting of one man and one woman joined together by God in a life-long covenant of marriage (Gen. 2:24), into which children may be conceived, born, blessed, and discipled. The biblical concept of family, with its inherent moral values, has been under severe attack from the kingdom of Satan through a value exchange in society at large. It is our purpose to stem the tide of family destruction and to re-impart into the body of Christ biblical foundations and values according to God's ancient paths (Jer. 6:13-16) regarding families.
